Salzburg, Austria & Berchtesgaden, Germany w/ Parents

During my parents trip this month, our big trip was to the Salzburg/ Berchtesgaden area. On our way there, we stopped over to see Neuschwanstein Castle. You can see my post here about it.

Rob and I visited last fall with USO (here is my post) but the weather wasn't the greatest and knew this would be the perfect opportunity to go again. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Salzburg City. It was a bit of a walk to the center of Salzburg but it wasn't bad. We got a pretty good deal and also found a deal where parking was included.

Our first day we went to the Kehlsteinhaus (the Easgle's Nest). After we parked and bought our tickets we had to wait about 25 minutes for our bus. The bus ride was an adventure in of itself. When we arrived there we found an english tour guide for a few euros per person. We all walked through the tunnel and went up on a gorgeous elevator to the famous retreat that was given to Aldolf Hitler for his 50th Birthday. The Eagle's Nest is situated on a ridge at the top of the Kehlstein mountain 1,834 m (6,017 ft).

The following day my Mom and I had fun shopping and eating treats around Salzburg while Rob and my Dad went golfing in Berchtesgaden at Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden. It is a 9-hole golf course that is Germany's highest course (1000m),  and has amazing views of the mountains.

my favorite place for coffee and treats is Cafe Tomaselli

After golf, the guys met us for dinner at St Peter Stiftskeller.
It is the oldest restaurant in Europe, est. 803.

Here are some pics of the guys golfing.

Make sure to see my next post on Lake Königsee.
