Landstuhl Spring Festival

When we found out Landstuhl was having a small festival we jumped on the train to spend the evening eating candy and currywurst.

I think we just use any excuse for train travel these days.
Rand got to try his first cotton candy and go on a bumper car. He loved the "roller coaster" rides too.
The top right pic of Rand cracks me up...
"Go on the ride, they said. It will be fun, they said."
Rand was so funny. That night he prayed and thanked Jesus for bumper cars, roller coaster, cotton candy and train ride. He is too cute!

Kaiserslautern October Fair (Kerwe)

The annual Kaiserslautern October Fair (Kerwe) takes place the end of October for about a week at the Messeplatz fairgrounds.
The Kerwe includes everything you would expect from a carnival or city fair in the United States, with the added benefits of traditional German food and yummy chocolate covered fruit!

Gerhardsbrunn Farm Fall Festival

While Rob is away and out of town, Rand and I are doing our best to stay busy. Luckily, Germany has fall festivals going on it seems every week. Today we went to a festival at the farm where we buy our milk and eggs. We met some friends there and enjoyed a delicious lunch and a tour of the farm. We also got a hay ride to their pumpkin patch.

Richard Löwenherz Fest

Today we drove about an hour to the village of Annweiler am Trifels for their Richard the Lionheart festival. Richard the Lionheart was held captive at Trifels Castle near Annweiler for a huge randsom. The clocks turn back during this weekend in Annweiler to the Middle Ages and features a medieval market. We enjoyed walking around this adorable village while listening to authentic medieval music and watching show fights, archery, a puppetry and much more. It was also fun going by each booth and watching goldsmiths, potters, cloth-weavers, knife sharpeners and other craftsmen presenting their arts and crafts. We also got to enjoy lots of delicious food!. It is € 6 for adults to enter the festival.
Address: Altenstrasse 10, 76855 Annweiler am Trifels

Here is a map of the festival

Came across this on our walk to the festival and really wanted it for Rand's room, lol.

Stuttgart Oktoberfest

We decided to take the train to head to Stuttgart for Oktoberfest Cannstatter Volksfest. The Volksfest is not strictly speaking a beer festival, it is considered by many to be the second largest beer celebration in the world after the Munich Oktoberfest. It is full of rides, games, bier gardens, bier tents, food vendors and souvenirs. You can even find vendors selling dirndls and lederhosen incase you forgot yours at home.

We left early in the morning to get there right when it opened. We planned on leaving before things go too "crazy" around 3 since we had Rand with us. The train ride took about 2 hours.

Bernkastel- Kues Wine Festival

Our first wine fest with our little 4 month old! I was exited to get out of the house on this beautiful day and explore the picturesque city of Bernkastel-Kues. The Mosel Valley is full of vineyards that rise up the hills from the river banks. The Burnkastel-Kues Weinfeste (Wine Festival) of the Middle Moselle is always on the first weekend in SeptemberWe enjoyed walking around and tasting local foods and wines while listening to the city's band play in the city square.
