Hitscherhof 2016

September in Germany means fall festivals and pumpkin soup! We love this soup so much we have gone every year we have been here! The first year, we just moved here and I didn't take pictures :( but I did they 2 years after: here and here

Rob is gone on TDY for training so I went with a friend whose husband is also out of town and has a son Rand's age. Rand had a blast climbing rocks, rolling pumpkins, seeing tractors up close and spending time with friends.

Fall Bucket List

Well... we are still here in Germany. Remember when I thought we were moving back to the USA in August? Well it is end of September and we are still here with no word of orders, lol. So since I am still here, I am making the most of my final days and making lists of things to go do and see.

Hitscherhof Pumpkin Fest
This has been one of our yearly traditions since living in Germany. The pumpkin soup alone is worth a trip to this adorable farm. The farm is full of local vendors selling food, fresh honey, crafts and other wonderful items.

Plexus
I have been struggling with my weight, sleep issues, anxiety and my pcos symptoms have just been insane lately. I had 2 friends suggest Plexus so I am going to give it a try this month. I will keep you all updated on my progress :)

Sunshine Farms Pumpkin Farm
This month I found an amazing new place to get fresh, raw cow's milk AND it is only 12 minutes away! BONUS~ they are having a festival in October! I am excited to try this milk out and the farm's festival!

Homburg Flohmarkt
This has been a monthly treat and I need to make sure to go before they close for the winter. I have been searching for an old barn ladder to display quilts and some more springerle cookie molds for my collection. I also have been looking for wooden clogs and some other fun, european antiques for decoration.

Potty Train Rand
Rand will be 2.5 years old next month and I really need to get on potty training him. I have been putting if off because I thought we were moving but since that isn't happening right now... that we know of... no better time than the present, right?

Craft Bazaar (Heart Felt Germany)
I am selling at a local Bazaar in October and I REALLY need to build stock for it. I will be burning the midnight oil till then.

Rob comes home
2 months of being TDY, Rob is coming home! I need to remember to record Rand seeing him for the first time :)

Oktoberfest in Cochem
The last Friday and Saturday in October, Cochem is a festive "Oktoberfest" atmosphere, pipe-music, liver-cheeses, white-sausage, pork joints and sauerkraut, in the large marquee on Endert-Place!

Monte Mare in Kaiserslautern

I had some friends invite Rand and I to go to an indoor pool in Kasierslautern. I was pleasantly surprised by all this place had to offer. It was very pricey. You can buy a 3 hour or day pass. All under one roof you will find this amazing sauna and spa resort - with 10 saunas and steam baths, hourly infusions, spa massages, relaxation rooms and much more! Swimming pool and leisure pool with wave pool, hot tub, several slides, children's play area, 25-meter swimming pool with diving towers. Also, you will find a restaurant and bars.
I did not take many photos so I hope to go again soon and will take many more!

Another Loss

Well it happened... we lost our baby :( I went in for an 11 week check up and found out our baby no longer had a heartbeat. What really added insult to injury was that Rob is stuck TDY for two months so I had to go through this alone. I opted to passing the baby and everything at home with drugs instead of a D&C. I have had AMAZING support here and am so thankful for such caring and loving friends. One of my friends even moved in for a couple days to help keep an eye on me and take care of Rand while it all happened.

3 years ago, in April 2012, I had a stillborn. I delivered my daughter, Addilyn Elisabeth at 25weeks. I went in for a regular 25 week check up and saw my lifeless daughter on the ultrasound screen.

Now here I am, with 2 losses under my belt. My punch card has 2 to many and I am just lost. Why does this happen? What did I do wrong? Why me? I have been running so many questions through my head and have no answers. You  never think you will be the 1 in 4 to lose your baby but it happened, twice.

Our Village~ Hauptstuhl

I LOVE our village and will truly miss this place. We are a few blocks away from a train station and have a couple restaurants in our village along with a bakery. We are surrounded by farms and Rand and I enjoy taking walks to feed the goats, cows, reindeer, horses and pigs. Most of our neighbors are German and are the sweetest people we have ever met.
I was able to find some information online about the history of Haupstuhl... or should I say "main chair." Hauptstuhl was first mentioned in 1547 as Habstall. The village was founded in the 16th century and was located near the well-defunct at the beginning of the 16th century deserted Ruppach.
The village Haupstuhl (main chair) belonged to the late 18th century, the so-called Small Court rule Landstuhl which was owned by the Barons of Sickingen line to Sickingen. In 1794, the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in War of the First Coalition. From 1798 to 1814 the main chair belonged to the canton of Landstuhl in the department of Donnersberg. Due to the decisions taken at the Congress of Vienna agreements, the region came in June 1815, first to Austria and in 1816 ceded based on a treaty to the Kingdom of Bavaria. Under the Bavarian Administrative belonged main chair from 1817 to the country's Commissariat Homburg in the Rhine district, from 1862 district office Homburg, moved in 1929 Regional office Kaiserslautern and belongs since 1939 to the district of Kaiserslautern. After the Second World War the church was the main chair in the French occupation zone part of the administrative region Pfalz in the then newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Pumpkin puree, waffles and soup

It is fall in Germany! I was excited to see sugar pumpkins at the local grocery store and was eager to use my new waffle maker to make some pumpkin waffles for Rand.
No more canned pumpkin for me!
The next morning I made some pumpkin waffles. Rand couldn't eat them fast enough. Here is the recipe I use.
I had some extra so made some soup too.
