Weihnachtsmarkt Trier 2014

Oh Trier... I have been here so many times, I honestly lost count, lol. Don't get me wrong, it is a great little city. It is charming and has so many beautiful sites but I am growing weary of it... kinda.

Anyways, my sister in law, Abby is in town visiting and I knew should would love Trier so we left after breakfast and headed to the oldest city in Germany.

Again, I have been multiple times and have found the best parking garage in the area. It is right across the street from the Porta Nigra (Black Gate).

We headed to the Haupmarkt to see the Weihnachtsmark
and next was St. Peter's Cathedral (Dom) and
Church of Our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche).

It was quite the experience walking through this gorgeous Cathedral and hearing the organist play "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel"
We grabbed some delicious Flammkuchen at a booth outside the Cathedrals.

Trier

Today was the last day my Mom and sister were visiting so we decided it would be a low key day and not travel too far out. After showing them around our village in the morning we decided to head to Trier for dinner. Trier is the oldest city in Germany, founded in or before 16 BCE.

We have been to Trier many times before but have recently heard of an amazing potato restaurant. We ate at Kartoffel Restaurant Kiste at it was delicious. The restaurant got pretty packed for lunch so be sure to get there early.

Weihnachtsmarkt ~ Trier & Luxembourg

My ancestors came from from Germany so I think that is where my love of Christmas is from. Germans go all out for this holiday and I love seeing all the different kind of decorations and traditions they do here. My favorite is the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Markets). This year we got to go to the one in Prague, Trier and Luxembourg.

Trier is a beautiful city an hour northwest of the KMC area. Trier is the oldest city in Germany, founded in or before 16 BC. Here are some pictures of our day in Trier.

St. Peter's Cathedral (Dom) is an 11th- century cathedral that holds the tombs of several archbishops and has an impressive collection od religious relics, including a robe of Jesus'.

The next day we went out to Luxembourg for the day. We heard they had a small Christmas Market so we had to go check it out. My camera died shortly after we arrived so I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures.
