Tropical Islands Resort

While researching and putting together our itinerary for Berlin, I came across Tropical Islands Resort. Tropical Islands Resort is a tropical theme park inside a cargo lifter airship hanger (know as the Aerium), the biggest free-standing hall in the world. Tropical Island opened in 2004 and has the biggest indoor rainforest in the world (with around 50,000 plants and 600 different species, including some rare plants), a beach, and a number of swimming pools with fountains, slides and waterfalls. It also includes a hotel and camping grounds, bars and restaurants. It is open around the clock, every day of the year.

I thought it would be a fun stop on our trip and is right between Berlin and Dresden. We left Berlin around 8am to arrive at 9am and enjoy a few hours of swimming and lunch before heading down to Dresden. 

We bought our tickets online and had no issues checking in. Make sure you get in the proper line since they have a few different lines for guests who are staying overnight or buying tickets at the door. Next, we headed to the locker room to change. They have changing rooms available but don't be shocked if people change right in front of you by their locker. 

 

Be sure to take a walk around the whole park. It really is a cool place and they have a lot to offer. The kids area is really fun. Rand had a blast in the ball pits and water areas.

Tips for your visit to Tropical Islands Resort:

-Bring a wet bag for your swimsuits and your own towel

-Bring sandals (I remembered everyone else's except my own)

-Leave your wallet in your locker. You will get a wrist band and use that for purchases

-Bring your own water since it is very pricey

Freizeitbad Azur

Rand and I have visited Freizeitbad Azur in Ramstein numerous times before but this time was different because Rob got to come with us. 

At the entrance you will be greeted by a friendly worker (most speak English) and will pay for your time at the pool. You can pay for an hour, 3 hours or all day.  You use your ticket to get through the entrance machine, to get a locker in the changing area and at checkout, you use your ticket again to walk out.  

You can take the stairs or elevator in front of you to go up one story to the changing area. You will also walk by the hair dryers and a snack area. You can change in a single or family stall and walk out the other side to the locker room. Again, you use your ticket to gain access to a locker key. You will walk trough the bathrooms and shower room to get to the indoor pool area. They have a waiting pool (no swimming), a slide, large swimming pool area where classes are held, a jacuzzi and a kids pool area around the corner to the left. You will also spot a bar where you can order food and drinks and an eating area. The sauna area with infusion-saunas, steam baths and sauna bar is downstairs. Up stairs are tanning and vitamin D lamps. 

I have not been when the outdoor area is open but I hope we get to go before we move to the USA this summer.

Monte Mare in Kaiserslautern

I had some friends invite Rand and I to go to an indoor pool in Kasierslautern. I was pleasantly surprised by all this place had to offer. It was very pricey. You can buy a 3 hour or day pass. All under one roof you will find this amazing sauna and spa resort - with 10 saunas and steam baths, hourly infusions, spa massages, relaxation rooms and much more! Swimming pool and leisure pool with wave pool, hot tub, several slides, children's play area, 25-meter swimming pool with diving towers. Also, you will find a restaurant and bars. 

I did not take many photos so I hope to go again soon and will take many more!

Miesau Pool

It has been the HOTTEST summer ever in Germany and not having AC right now stinks. Luckily, we have a great pool not far from our village in Bruchmuehlbach-Miesau. It has a great kiddy pool, huge adult slide, diving boards, a whirlpool and another large swimming pool. They also have soccer fields and a Biergarten.
