Rocker Makeover

Living in Germany has its perks but getting inexpensive, cute baby nursery gear is not one of them. I have been keeping on eye on Bookoo (similar craigslist) for a chair I can re-do. I have recovered a rocker in the past for a client but I didn't have to stain it. Here is a pic of my hubby staining the rocker and ottoman.

I wasn't thinking and didn't take pics of the process but I will do my best into telling you how I did it. Below is a picture I found online of the exact rocker and ottoman I got on Bookoo for only $25! The fabric was worn and ripped but I didn't care because I was going to make a new one anyway.

I removed all the fabric and ripped all the seams to use as a pattern. I decided to not use the arm chairs because, honestly, I thought they were ugly. I wanted my rocker to look a bit higher end so I used piping. After I cut out all my fabric, I pinned it together with the piping between and sewed... a lot. I used the existing padding and cushion to stuff inside my new padding. After I hand sewed it shut I attached a few strings in the back to keep it in place.
